~ Recent performances (and sequences) ~

The following are the most recent recordings, made on MIDI support, by the pianist Alessandro Simonetto. Large part of the performances, and the sequences, by Mr. Simonetto, are now updated on Kunst der Fuge / On Classical in the respective pages. Some of them are marked by the line:

to indicate the high quality (above all the last recordings). For the best result of each recording we would suggest to use one of the following electronic instruments or sampled sounds:

Alessandro usually performes on a vertical MX 100B Model. He also uses the recent Model E to listen to the results once a recording has been made and edited (see especially for the recording of Bach's well tempered Clavier). Recordings has also been edited using the Steinway Mod. C, sound font by Søren Bovbjerg. From the Bovbjerg' site is also available the (free) sample of the renowned Fazioli; and under preparation the Böseldorfer!

Important note: the use of Windows Media Player is not suggested for listening to following sequences (in fact, all sequences on Kunst der Fuge). Windows Media Player does not reproduce all MIDI-channels, making sound incomplete. Please take a look at the media page to choose a more appropriate software for your complete enjoyment.

~ Bio ~

Alessandro Simonetto

Alessandro Simonetto taught himself in secret to play piano. Later he attended the Steffani Conservatory of Music in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso, N.E. Italy) under Maestro Gabriele di Toma, graduating after just three years. At the same time he completed courses with important pianists including Aquiles delle Vigne, Andràs Schiff (for classical music); Marco Fumo (ragtime music); Garry Dial, Cecil McBee and John Riley (jazz harmony and improvisation); Eric James (silent-film music).

Alessandro performed (1995-1998) in cities such as Vienna, Munich, Stuttgart, Zürich, Cologne, Milan, Bologna, both as pianist and electronic performer.

In April 2002 Alessandro gave way to his website Kunst der Fuge / On Classical which is actually the largest resource of classical music in MIDI support in the world wide web for its vastity, quality and gratuity. With less than 3 year of life Kunst der Fuge already receives over 10,000 visits per day!

Alessandro Simonetto has recorded more than 500 pieces on MIDI support (see above), using a technique which is both traditional and innovative when it transposes to assimilated theoretical modules (which are at times applied to mere sequences). A technique on which Alessandro has spent a great deal of research, during his various years of study, yielding results so positive as to attract the attention of numerous renowned musicians and critics who have admired the veracity and poetry of Alessandro's performances (intriguing, full of intelligence and poetry..., commented Andrea Padova, pianist and winner of the Bach in Saarbrücken award in 1995, on the Alessandro's Well Tempered Clavier [by Bach] recorded on MIDI support, June 2003).

Mr. Simonetto also graduated in electronic music at the Pollini Conservatory of Padua (2004) under the guide of Paolo Zavagna and Nicola Bernardini obtaining full marks in composition. As composer he wrote music, mostly of counterpoint, for piano, organ, disklavier & accordion, electronic, chamber and choral music. He has also been giving piano lessons and coordinating the musical activity at the Waldorf School (Pedagogical Steinerian Centre) in Cittadella, Padua since 1997.

Recently Alessandro Simonetto has founded his Independent Recording House OnClassical that published and sells classical music online sharing profits 50/50 with the artists!
